Situation

Overhead Trommels & Rollers

Since 1988, Tempo Trommels & Rollen has been a specialist in custom-making conveyor rollers, drums and trough sets for various industries. Their services go beyond simply supplying products; they help companies to improve their logistic processes and to
optimise.

The challenge

Challenges to be able to realise more sales

Managing Director of Tempo Trommels & Rollen, Niels was given the task of focusing more on business development, but to achieve more sales he encountered the following challenges:

  • The website communications fell short of the organisation's standard.
  • No marketing experience within the organisation regarding social media.
  • Marketing efforts were not measurable (what the traffic is, where it comes from, what it does on the website, etc.).
  • No commercial communications via online platforms.

Have a new results-driven website built

Tempo Trommels & Rollen also asked for help with the positioning of the company within the sector. The client wanted a new results-oriented website to be built with the functionalities that were already part of the website before it was rebuilt.

Approach & solution

Strategy / Process

First, a positioning session was set up on-site together with the client. After 3 sessions with various employees from different departments, we gathered the most valuable insights from multiple perspectives.

Session 1

  • Who is/are the specific target audience(s) that Tempo Trommels & Rollen wants to appeal to on the website?
  • Identifying the DMU (Decision Making Unit). Who internally decides and influences the choice among Tempo's customers to actually purchase a product from Tempo Trommels & Rollen? By mapping these individuals and their challenges, we gain a clear picture of this group and how they arrive at a decision.
  • Customer journey mapped per target group.
  • Purchase motives of the various members within the DMU and the different phases of the customer journey mapped out.
  • Developing personas.

Session 2

  • Who are the competitors of Tempo Trommels & Rollen?
  • How does Tempo Drums & Rollers distinguish itself from the competition? (Mapping USPs).
  • Translating the USPs (Unique Selling Points) into UBRs (Unique Buying Reasons).

Session 3

  • Results of the online surveys conducted by Forward Marketing following sessions 1 and 2.
  • Sharing the choice of marketing messages.
  • Selection of the channels that yield the highest returns / have the most potential for the customer.
  • Which documents do we want to use to inform the visitors?.
  • Discussing the results of the online marketing research.

Outcome of sessions: market positioning

The sessions outlined above resulted in a market positioning strategy for Tempo Trommels & Rollen. A strategist and a marketer from Forward Marketing were present at each session to document the proceedings and conclusions.
